WHISPERING PINES

April is National Poetry Month

In observance of National Poetry Month, Duo Licht will present a program of original chamber music for violin and viola composed by Andy Licht. The works are inspired by the poetry of John Henry Boner and will be performed at Historic Bethabara Park.

The concert, titled Whispering Pines, offers a unique dialogue between poetry and music. Selections of Boner’s poetry will be recited and paired with musical compositions written in response to each poem as it follows Boner’s Journey from Winston-Salem, to New York, and his posthumous return back to his place of birth.

John Henry Boner, a native of Winston-Salem, is widely regarded as “North Carolina’s First Man of Letters,” and remains an important literary figure in Winston-Salem’s history.
